Shepherd ISD Names Dr. Todd Davis Lone Finalist for Superintendent of Schools
After considering numerous applicants, the Shepherd ISD Board voted 7-0 to name Dr. Todd Davis as the Lone Finalist for the Shepherd ISD Superintendent. By law, the Board may not hire the new Superintendent for at least twenty-one (21) days following the public notice that was given by the Boardโs motion. Dr. Davis follows Dr. Jason Hewitt who is retiring after 6 years of dedicated leadership in SISD.
Dr. Davis brings more than 30 years of experience in public education with a focus on improving teaching and learning for all students. He most notably served as Chief Academic Officer in Aldine ISD, where he was known for helping teams turn vision into practice in ways that support teachers and improve student outcomes.
His work in Aldine led him to a statewide role supporting districts in adopting high-quality classroom instructional materials and strengthening system wide support for teachers. Much of this work was done in small rural school districts. It was this experience that led him to want to lead a district where the teaching and learning is personal, where every student is known by name. Dr. Davis believes, โThe most effective way to improve outcomes for students is to invest in teachers and ensure every student graduates with choices and opportunities for their future."
Dr. Davis and his wife, Yvonne, a math teacher, have been married for 25 years and have two children, Isabella (22) and Nathan (19), both currently in college. Dr. Davis is a lifelong Texas sports fan and as a teenager growing up in Minnesota, Dr. Davis collected posters of Earl Campbell, Nolan Ryan, and other successful Houston athletes. He was destined to become a Texan!
Dr. Davis is excited about the prospect of serving as the Shepherd Superintendent once the 21-day waiting period concludes. In the meantime, he is learning all there is about becoming a Shepherd Pirate!
