Shepherd ISD is very excited to begin preparing for the 2009-2010 PreKindergarten school year. During the next school year, Shepherd ISD will be making two significant changes to their PreKindergarten program: All day PreKindergarten classes and school transportation will be provided to PreKindergarten students. Shepherd ISD will host a 2009-2010 PreKindergarten Screening and Awareness Parent meeting on Monday, May 11, 2009 at 6:30pm. The meeting will be held at Shepherd Primary School. Shepherd Primary school will host its annual Kindergarten Round-Up on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at 9:00 a.m.! Kindergarten Round-Up is the day that all children who will be 5 years old before September 1, 2009, can register for Kindergarten for the 2009-2010 school year. Read more.
This year is the 20th anniversary of the Pirate Pride Drill Team and the 2008-2009 team is the first to bring home over 30 awards in one season. On January 31st the team competed in the American Dance Classic in the Woodlands. They competed in three team dances and three officer dances and brought home four awards. Read more.
Three Shepherd High School students have submitted their art work to various competitions and did very well. Mrs. Basham, High School Art teacher and Shepherd ISD are very proud of these students and their accomplishments. Sophomore Jarrell Wyatt’s car design was selected by the Shepherd Chamber of Commerce to be the official T-Shirt design for the Annual Classic Car Show. Sophomore Jessica Gibbs was awarded a summer scholarship to attend classes at the Glassell School of Art in Houston. Read more.
As posted a few months ago on our website, it has come to the attention of several Shepherd ISD staff memebers that a number of our teens and pre-teens may be participating in a potentially deadly activigy that is claiming the lives of children across the US.
