Rebecca Nix

Known for her heart for students and involvement in the school community, Rebecca Nix brings this same passion and energy to her position with Shepherd ISD as the District Bilingual/ ESL Coordinator. She is a twenty-six year veteran of the classroom, where she has taught Spanish, English and ESL (English as a Second Language). She has also served as the ESL program coordinator for every campus she’s been on since 1993, and was the District ESL Coordinator for Goodrich ISD from 2011-2013. A native of Palestine, Texas, Rebecca attended college at Howard Payne University in Brownwood, where she graduated with honors, earning a double-major in English and Spanish and a minor in music. During her tenure in the classroom, Mrs. Nix has been honored to receive two District Teacher of the Year awards, one for Tomball ISD, where she taught for twelve years, and the other, right here in Shepherd ISD in 2016. Rebecca has been with Shepherd eight years, teaching, leading, and serving the students and families of this community. She looks forward to her new role here, as she anticipates with joy the opportunity to reach even more students as she serves across the district to help ensure success for our English Language Learners.

 

Conocida por su corazón por los estudiantes y su participación en la comunidad escolar, Rebecca Nix trae esta misma pasión y energía a su puesto con Shepherd ISD como Coordinadora Bilingüe / ESL del Distrito. Es una veterana de veintiséis años en el aula, donde ha enseñado español, inglés y ESL (inglés como segundo idioma). También se ha desempeñado como coordinadora del programa de ESL para cada campus en el que ha estado desde 1993, y fue la coordinadora de ESL del distrito para Goodrich ISD de 2011-2013. Rebecca, originaria de Palestina, Texas, asistió a la universidad Howard Payne en Brownwood, donde se graduó con honores, obteniendo una doble especialización en inglés y español y una especialización en música. Durante su permanencia en el salón de clases, la Sra. Nix ha tenido el honor de recibir dos premios de Maestra del Año del Distrito, uno para Tomball ISD, donde enseñó durante doce años, y el otro, aquí mismo en Shepherd ISD en 2016. Rebecca ha estado con Shepherd durante ocho años, enseñando, liderando y sirviendo a los estudiantes y familias de esta comunidad. Ella espera su nuevo rol aquí, ya que anticipa con alegría la oportunidad de llegar a más estudiantes
